Just curious, ever been an engineering manager?

  I was and leading multiple teams. I was and still programming. Not really sure what you are referring? I always made sure developers are interviewed and treated with fairness and compassion. No crazy assignments, most is done same day, they get response right away. Always promoted good practices and learning. I wish I was perfect, I was not, but I think I did really good job. At the moment, I am not leading or managing any team.

  When I switched to management, I had a new kind of "imposter syndrome" -- here I was sitting still bossing around the guys in the trenches doing the real work. I still have to write code even as manager, or I just feel lazy and like I'm taking advantage of my direct reports.
