- devoply 10y agoWe need a movement to make borders a part of the normal legal system. It's stupid to have this no man's land bullshit in the civilized world. It's uncivilized.
- npiazza83 10y agoIts so much worse than that. The US Border Patrol jurisdiction stretches 100 miles inland from the US border... 2 out of 3 Americans LIVE in the Border patrol jurisdiction. https://www.aclu.org/other/constitution-100-mile-border-zone https://www.aclu.org/other/constitution-100-mile-border-zone
- sneak 10y agoUS citizens do not presently have to unlock anything or answer any questions to be granted entry after proving citizenship.
- elastic_church 10y agoCorrect but their devices can be confiscated
- npiazza83 10y agoAnd they can be indefinitely detained for refusing.
- tinus_hn 10y agoThe border is a line and lines have no area, so it's not soil at all. What you mean is the doctrine that states that some of the protections offered by the US constitution do not apply near the border. That doesn't mean the law does not apply.
