This seems like an issue with out of date examples. This same criticism could be leveled against any language that evolves and invalidates past syntax. PHP7 invalidates tons of old examples on the web. Does that mean those changes were bad or harmful? No. Just because we happen to be at a transition window with Swift such that recent examples are now invalid doesn't change that.
