zerohedge? really?
- coldtea 10y agoYes, really. Why? Not mainstream and "official" enough?
- akhilcacharya 10y agoNot mainstream, not official, and an alt-right conspiracy mouthpiece. No thanks.
- coldtea 10y agoSure, an echo chamber is way better than hearing other sides.
- akhilcacharya 10y agoThe "world is round" community is also an echo chamber. Not all echo chambers are illegitimate.
- coldtea 10y agoOnly politics are not science -- and truth there is not as clear cut as "world is round vs flat". (Heck, aside from Math, Physics and so called "hard sciences" science itself is often hardly scientific: riddled with special interests, tenured idiots, ideology, profit motives, etc). A lot of the cherished facts thrown around in politics and social issues can be (and are) made up, even if they come from censuses, public bureaus, NGOs, the OECD, the UN and other seemingly trusted sources. And even when the facts are hard and solid, their interpretation, or the consensus on the best course of action, can differ widely. As of course does the impact of those facts to various groups (the same social phenomenon, new law, technological change etc can make some richer and other poorer for example). An echo chamber in social life is never, ever, legitimate.
- akhilcacharya 10y agoI'm sorry, but legitimizing conspiracy blogs is not the answer here. >the day Lokey left Zero Hedge—their relationship had deteriorated significantly, according to the messages provided by Ivandjiiski. “I can’t be a 24-hour cheerleader for Hezbollah, Moscow, Tehran, Beijing, and Trump anymore. It’ s wrong. Period. I know it gets you views now, but it will kill your brand over the long run,” Lokey texted Ivandjiiski. “This isn’t a revolution. It’s a joke.” -- Former ZeroHedge writer Colin Lokey [0] As an American, I really can't support the promotion of an often-explicitly anti-American blog that has a tenuous relationship with the actual facts. As a non American, I can fully support the promotion of counterviews on Hezbollah, Moscow, Tehran, Beijing, and Trump (and other places, like Latin American) than the ones played by official American media, which is no better than the never ending "our country, right or wrong" at best, and openly lying or uncritically republishing "WMDs" to sponsor some new war at worse.
