Ask HN: Vim as an standalone environment for R programming?

I have been using RStudio for R programming for a long time. Recently, I have started using vim for some programming in other languages. I was wondering if anybody uses just vim for R programming considering RStudio has kind of established itself as the go to environment for R users. If you do use vim, tutorials for setup will also be very much appreciated.
