I'm an MBA student at the University of Michigan. I have a background in Engineering and software so I can appreciate the discussion topics that HN gravitates towards. To me HN is a great source of 'frontier information' AND associated perspectives that are generally fair but probably biased towards techno-optimism (not necessarily a bad thing). The comment quality is a huge plus point compared to other communities. I think i could probably get the same news from a variety of sources but the opinions and time taken to create quality comments is staggering and keeps me coming back almost daily as a lurker.
