Not building reactors in regions of high tectonic action would be a good start, too. It's also probably a better idea to go with lots of small, simple reactors versus larger singular points of failure, but I haven't done a lot of research into how viable that strategy really is beyond the sci-fi scenario of a reactor outside every house.
