She refused medical procedures that could have removed the infection (removal of gall bladder) and as such died in imprisonment/confinement. I'm not suggesting we should lock up anti-vaxxers, but if there is an outbreak of polio then those people who refuse to be vaccinated put at risk those who cannot be vaccinated.
