For the same reason Boxee is coming out with a dedicated box. Plugging a PC into your TV, setting up a remote, setting up software, etc. is easy for computer geeks like us, but most of America (and I assume the world?) is still baffled on how to set the clock on their DVD player or microwave. Not to mention most PC's are surprisingly loud when you leave them running in the living room (or bedroom) 24x7.
