Yeah, depending on how badly this infests Xfce, I may have to switch to MATE. If it's just the task manager, then I can fall back to 'top' in a terminal window until I can write my own replacement. But if they start doing it to Thunar, Mousepad, xfce4-terminal, the settings control panel, etc ... then I'll have to abandon ship :(
