Crazy thought... If this is even possible, create a standard for everything key employees should know. Pay people great, but not GREAT. Bank up "eff you" money for them. If they want to quit, they get the banked money as long as there are enough people on team to carry on without that person. Might not be practical for a number of reasons. Just sounds interesting, without having put any thought into the idea beyond the time it took me to write this comment.
