For me it's all about how you frame the question of why you're building things. The first tune I built something it wasn't with a big vision to be the next Facebook (Facebook didn't exist then actually :)) but it was something I needed, and I figured I'd just see if other people needed it too. Other times, I've built things purely as a learning exercise, so you can't fail if you launch, you've actually succeeded just because you launch, what comes later doesn't matter. Once I'd launched a couple of times, the fear factor didn't really come into mind anymore.
