You are right, of course... however... What about the power the government derives from taxing your real estate? Don't forget that either.

  Land is the common wealth. Tax it. No income tax.

    The forces arrayed against that are considerable. In fairness, it would involve moving an awful lot of civic furniture.

      Yes they are. And whichever country does this successfully first will have a huge jump in living standards.
