Ask HN: Are certifications like GIAC GCIA/GCIH worth the effort?

since there isnt that many places out there for training on Incident response and Network Intrusion analysis skills. are the GIAC GCIA and GIAC GCIH in demand ? would they be useful for someone with only IT/sysadmin experience to get into the Cyber security field?
