Personally, I like it for the same reasons as you dislike it! Being unable to read the names of the small spikes is a feature, not a bug - I don't care about any directory too small to see, and hiding them like this (but still giving me an idea of their presence if I want to explore further) is useful. Perhaps it's just because I spend a lot of time looking at flame graphs, but this for me is perfect. It's just a shame that it requires two steps (run the script, open in browser). Perhaps I'll write a GUI wrapper around it that does everything all in one...
