Well, I know that drinking any alcohol is bad for me personally. Of course this does not apply in general, but even after a single drink I feel a little depressed and anxious the next day. The more I drink the worse I feel and the longer I need to recover.
Stop drinking was the single best thing I did to recover from depression and anxiety.
- AznHisoka 10y agoI tend not to put too much inportance on these generic health statements because of this. I could care less if alcohol has health benefits if i personally experience ill results from drinking. the same can be said of statements like "coffee has health benefits" when it can cause acid reflux for me and others who are susceptible. everyone needs to evaluate general health suggestions against their personal health history. personally i find them marginally useless.
- mseebach 10y agoPerhaps you're a reasonable wealthy person with a reasonably stable life, and so not a lot of demons that need silencing. So when your body tells you to not drink, you can fairly easily respond by simply not drinking, which a less fortunate person might find harder to do. This kind of behaviour is consistent with the finding in article.
