This is the Israeli company the FBI hired to crack the San Bernadino iPhone, right?
Though that company may have been working on such things already, and though Israel is an ally, American law enforcement using a foreign company of a nation that, for example, exports technology to China, to hack the iPhone in a manner that Cook and many others (even myself) would make its way to the public ... argh.
- i336_ 10y agoI don't know much, but I learned that it was an iPhone 5C (sans Secure Enclave), and it seems John McAfee might've poked the FBI about it: http://www.businessinsider.com/john-mcafee-ill-decrypt-san-bernardino-phone-for-free-2016-2 http://www.businessinsider.com/john-mcafee-ill-decrypt-san-b... Everyone says an "unidentified hacker" did it; it's possible John McAfee's team did it, it's possible someone else did it. I think the sentiment in the article is pretty cool though, from an overall-security standpoint.
