I love FreeBSD, and I felt like the author of this article does too. It didn't come across as a rant to me, but rather an explanation, and some constructive criticism, of what the author thinks the FreeBSD project could do better. As with all constructive criticism, you absorb what you feel will help you reach your goals, and reject what doesn't. It is always a good thing to have those insights and options though, I think.
