Not to sound snide or cynical, but the ending feels like life to me. You make all of these choices that matter through out the story (your life), but then in the end everyone finishes in the same place (you die). It pretty much brings home the notion that it's the journey that should matter and not just the destination.
- onli 10y agoIt's not that kind of ending. You are still Shepard, you still were the one and only that could fight the big evil, you just saved the universe, in a way. In no way does the story or the game itself bring your point across. ME3 still acts like your choices had big impact, but is just unbelievable bad at it. Choices in life can have meaning, during your life and for others. In good games, even linear ones, your choices have meaning, take Witcher (though I didn't play the third game yet), Shadowrun, Baldur's Gate, Fallout (1, 2 and New Vegas). ME 3 just sucked.
- daemin 10y agoFrom what I remember of ME3 you pretty much sacrifice yourself at the end to do one of three things, all of which are pretty similar in nature - just a change of colour. However you do not get to experience the universe after you have chosen one of those endings. So what I wanted to say (in a philosophical angle) is that your choices do matter to the people left after you are dead, and they can greatly affect how people remember you. But it is the choices that you make during the game - the journey - are the ones that have the biggest impact on you (or the character). So to have made all these choices during the playthrough and then not experience the consequence after the end is quite disappointing to a lot of people.
- TeMPOraL 10y agoTechnically they kind of backed themselves into a corner with ME3 endings, because while they may look superficially similar to the player during choice making, all four of them (yes, four - there are actually four options for you to choose from) result in so vastly different universes, that I see no way they could ever make a proper sequel. That's probably the real reason they're going with Andromeda now - they completely blocked off the ability to continue Milky Way story. -- There's one thing I'd love someone to create though - a tool that would take all my saves from 1, 2 and 3, and use them to retell a story of my character. Some form of highlights; rendered comic maybe, or even the story to read - something to reflect my character biometrics and to remind me all the decisions I made during the course of the trilogy. All of that data is in the save files.
