The EO at issue is all about legal immigrants.
Don't forget this. Don't let this turn cloudy in your mind. The administration campaigned for a crackdown on illegal immigration and immediately went after legal immigrants instead, despite assurances to the contrary.
- djrogers 10y agoNo, the 90 day suspension is on travel, not immigration. Green card holders and dual citizens can enter the US freely (now that the botched implementation details have been cleared up). I don't support the travel ban, but I also don't support the rampant mis-characterization of it in the media and here on HN.
- TillE 10y agoVisa holders are legal immigrants too, and it appears they've been entirely banned.
- dominotw 10y agopeople on tourist visas are not immigrants. Many kinds of visas.
- unityByFreedom 10y agoand some visas are immigrant visas.
- dominotw 10y agothat doesn't make 'Visa holders are legal immigrants too' statement true.
- unityByFreedom 10y ago> No, the 90 day suspension is on travel, not immigration. Immigration requires travel. Banning travel effectively bans immigration > Green card holders and dual citizens can enter the US freely (now that the botched implementation details have been cleared up). You mean, now that federal judges have issued orders to stay the President's ban. There was no exception mentioned for green card holders in the executive order. The President is not above the law. When he breaks it he will be held accountable.
