Currently China has a good relationship with the Philippines and their new president prefers them as partners to the USA and has agreed to solve the problem of the disputed islands by peaceful means. As history shows politicians can spin anything into a conflict/war and the press lap it up. I just wish those doing the spinning were made to fight on the front line when it happens.
