I'm translating a giant pile of Excel w/VB macros into Python at the moment and am not exactly having fun. The ugliness isn't really VB syntax as much as the interactions with and organization into the underlying sheet. But I can't argue with the fact that it did do it's job for a long time. And I've learned to not underestimate the value of something that is known to work.
