- fsiefken 10y agoYes, when I was responsible for databases and servers 'red alert' file where all the worst case scenario's were described with the recovery procedures which were tested every half year or so. This came about after these scenario's happened one after the other and I had to fix them manually. One of them, a hard disk crash, were a tape backup failed for some reason, and the tape from two days ago was to outdated. I did a filesystem recovery, then a database recovery and consistency check, mounted the files and looked at which tables were corrupted and restored those from backup. I didn't want to through this (with a huge time pressure) ever again. After that we decided to check if all backups succeeded and were consistent so everyone on the team could restore within an hour.
