I once went onsite for a week-long trial. I learned their codebase, discussed infrastructure, wrote an app, and demoed it, explaining how it might improve their workflow. At the end of the week I got rejected for "not being a 100% cultural fit." Either companies should have the balls to tell you that you suck, or you don't suck, and they should stop hiring off narratives. All the more so after they take up your time.
