WTF? I just spent $1,207.40 on Books?
- mindcrime 10y agoI can relate to this. I have ordered over $1,000.00 worth of books from Amazon in one order before. It's not something I do often, but I routinely order $200.00 - $300.00 worth at one time, or walk out of a Barnes & Noble with $200.00+ worth of books. On the one hand, I consider most of this stuff an investment in myself and my career and future (fiction aside)... but there is that "thing" of realizing that you already own more books than you'll likely live long enough to read. It's frustrating because I want to read and absorb all that knowledge, but despite the fact that I read fairly fast, I can still buy books faster than I can read them. :-(
- informatimago 10y agoYes, there are certain streets with certain libraries that I used to avoid, if I didn't want to come back home with 1000.00+ worth of books... With Amazon it's a little easier to avoid over-booking, since you can just find the book you want without having to browse a whole shelf.
- mindcrime 10y agoIn some ways I find Amazon worse. I find "the book" I was looking for, but then Amazon shows me all the recommended "related" titles, both on the landing page for the book itself, and then again after I click "add to cart", etc. I guess I'm just a sucker, but I've gone on there before to buy one book, and wound up with seven or eight in my cart before I finished.
