OP here. I'm a long time user and fan of Anki as well. The main difference between Anki and Code Cards is that you can code in the 'question' directly. I find it useful for code where the chunk size is bigger than you can keep in your head at a given time, as it allows you to actually type the code out. There's a scratchpad in Anki but it's mostly useful for things like Kanji, not for code. Another benefit of being able to code in the question directly is that you get things like syntax highlighting (and eventually, a sandboxed live environment).
