Ask HN: What's your experience with AWS EMR?

I've had a pretty mixed impression of AWS EMR and am curious about others' experience. I am yet to use Cloudera but have heard it's much more robust, stable, consistent, etc. One interesting offering of EMR that I am yet to try out is HBase on S3 (i.e. to help solve the small files problem). I'm curious to hear others' experiences.
