Elect more leaders like me! Seriously? This is seriously at the top of HN? What is so great about science? Didn't science create nuclear weapons? Isn't it rushing us towards the AI Singularity? Why are you so confident that STEM is the answer to all our prayers?
I do STEM because it provides for my family. However, I appreciate and understand that I might very well be the problem rather than the solution. But, I am good at it and pays well and sometimes it seems to do good when in the right hands.
If you ask me though - elect more leaders who are anti-violence and anti-consumption. But hey, one person one vote - right?

I agree with your assessment though, STEM isn't sufficient to be a good leader. You need to care about people and want to improve their well-being too.
