- bostand 10y agoAs far as I know, there is no uBlock for Edge right now. not the real ublock any way
- Roritharr 10y agoWhat is this then? https://www.microsoft.com/store/apps/9nblggh444l4 https://www.microsoft.com/store/apps/9nblggh444l4 https://github.com/nikrolls/uBlock-Edge https://github.com/nikrolls/uBlock-Edge
- bostand 10y agoThis version is not developed by the original developer (Gorhil). Given what happened after the previous ublock splitt iam hesitant to use it.
- vizzier 10y agoNot a user of the edge version myself but the above version is endorsed on the uBlock origin repo: https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock#microsoft-edge https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock#microsoft-edge
- devwastaken 10y agoI've found edge to just be an auto-updated version of IE. Microsoft still thinks they're special, so they don't have to implement some functionality all other browsers do. I would highly prefer all of my users to be on Firefox or Chrome, or else I still end up writing special code for 'Internet Edge'.
- ancarda 10y agoWhat functionality is missing from Edge? I don't use it, but I've been following with a lot of enthusiasm as Edge supports all kinds of 'un-Microsoft' stuff these days like WebM: https://blogs.windows.com/msedgedev/2016/04/18/webm-vp9-and-opus-support-in-microsoft-edge/ https://blogs.windows.com/msedgedev/2016/04/18/webm-vp9-and-... Comparing the last version of IE, the latest Edge and, the latest Chrome: https://html5test.com/compare/browser/ie-11/edge-12/edge-15/chrome-52.html https://html5test.com/compare/browser/ie-11/edge-12/edge-15/... it looks like it's catching up and implementing a lot of important APIs. As far as I know, Edge is a little slow to adopt new stuff, perhaps because they're afraid of implementing something and having everyone scream "Embrace, Extend, Extinguish!" at them.
- devwastaken 10y agohttp://getbootstrap.com/browser-bugs/ http://getbootstrap.com/browser-bugs/ The specific cases I've had are with how SVG's are rendered and that manipulating them with css does not work in-document like it does in Chrome or Firefox. The bugs page itself isn't very insightful, but if you look at the issues posted, you'l see that there is significantly less conversation or involvement of people into the problems. By itself, Edge not being open source should make it unfit for usage, but they also don't involve themselves nearly as much in the web community. This is one big factor why chrome gets more vulnerability reports than Edge. http://www.cvedetails.com/vulnerability-list/vendor_id-1224/product_id-15031/year-2016/Google-Chrome.html http://www.cvedetails.com/vulnerability-list/vendor_id-1224/... https://www.cvedetails.com/vulnerability-list/vendor_id-26/product_id-32367/year-2016/Microsoft-Edge.html https://www.cvedetails.com/vulnerability-list/vendor_id-26/p...
- jjcm 10y ago> "or else I still end up writing special code for 'Internet Edge'" I really haven't experienced this at all. Up until about a month ago when they pushed a big update, Safari has been my problem child browser. IE Edge has been really solid with conformance. Looking at compliance to the html5 spec, edge is neck and neck with firefox: https://html5test.com/results/desktop.html https://html5test.com/results/desktop.html Disclaimer: I used to work for ms, but not on edge.
- BugsJustFindMe 10y agoCan Edge save text documents without a hyperlink yet?
- TLLtchvL8KZ 10y agoThe day uBO was put on the MS store I removed Chrome from my computer and have no regrets whatsoever.
- jedikv 10y agoI find the sparse touch-focused UI on desktop awful. Plus it seems to lock up more than other browers during heavy page loading.
