Ask HN: Engineer Salaries in New York Compared to San Francisco Currently
How are software engineer salaries in New York compared to San Francisco at the moment?
What industries are most lucrative for jobs besides finance for software engineers?
- whitneyricketts 10y agoSan Francisco average software engineer salary: $139,036 New York average: $124,691 More here, including adjusted averages based on cost of living: https://hired.com/blog/candidates/where-engineer-salaries-pay-highest-standard-living/ https://hired.com/blog/candidates/where-engineer-salaries-pa...
- FrancoDiaz 10y agoThat's horrible. Senior software engineers can easily get those salaries in the midwest where the cost of living is much, much less.
- bostand 10y agoYeah, but do they get free food and candy? :)
- cauterized 10y agoI always think those standard of living comparisons do NYC a disservice. They generally include the cost of keeping a car, which most people in those other cities do but very few New Yorkers do. And a monthly metrocard is far cheaper and frankly more convenient.
