It's not snobbery; it's just that friendship is based on things people have in common, and the more people join a conversation, the lower the common denominator becomes. If you joined Facebook to talk about classes and dating and music, and now your Mom is posting on your wall, it just changes. Maybe you love Mom. But Facebook isn't the same with her there.
