Its because @font-face is CSS2 (http://www.w3.org/TR/1998/REC-CSS2-19980512/fonts.html#font-descriptions http://www.w3.org/TR/1998/REC-CSS2-19980512/fonts.html#font-...) and has nothing to do with HTML5
