I don't see what this comment brings to the discussion. I think it's obvious that the salary discrepancy and the skill discrepancy don't match up. Since salary defines 'market value' of a developer it's worth exploring why the market behaves this way. And I say this as a developer and also as someone who's got input on hiring decisions.
