I'm surprised the author allowed Brian to run his BS as long as he did. Although B is clearly in the wrong here I'd suggest the author should take a look at his/her willingness to play along as far as it went. Maybe some self-esteem problems? Good read overall though. Makes me feel better about my own efforts to learn and improve. Maybe I should seek out a mentor as my approach to learning is 180° from Brian's. The balls on that guy though! Did he really think he could pull it off? It's clear sometimes I have an empathy deficit. Wow.
