Thanks for the post, interesting information. I know nothing about the battery market but wouldn't it make sense for big players like Samsung to buy into that part of the supply chain if it's in the state you describe?

You're welcome! And they do. The big battery makers are Panasonic, LG Chem, Samsung SDI, and a few companies that make things internally. Apple has tried to get into batteries with a few strategic acquisitions but didn't really get anywhere (as far as we know.)
