Do what? Post articles from Nature?
- DanieIGackIe 10y agoSpamming original research is not in the spirit of HN.
- LeifCarrotson 10y agoThis isn't original research by @based2, it's primary research, authored and reviewed by credentialed scientists. And even if it was, this isn't Wikipedia - HN is a great place for primary sources. I would much rather read this (or even just skim the abstract and conclusions) than some so-called "scientific journalism" that typically distorts, exaggerates, and confuses the issues.
- Turing_Machine 10y agoRight. Nature is about as credible a source as you can get.
- _ihaque 10y agoNote that this paper is from Nature: Scientific Reports, which is also published by Nature Publishing Group, but is not the Nature journal you're thinking of. SRep is not in the same tier as Nature.
- Turing_Machine 10y agoThanks for pointing that out. I'm guessing that it's still a long way removed from "spam", though, right? :-)
- semi-extrinsic 10y agoWell, SR did have a bit of a credibility issue when they started, and even today, it's not exactly a top journal. I understand it's not a criterion that the articles published are groundbreaking or similar, just that they're decent science and that the authors are willing to pay the hefty fee. Edit: See here for one particular discussion, from last year http://blogs.sciencemag.org/pipeline/archives/2016/06/15/more-on-scientific-reports-and-on-faked-papers http://blogs.sciencemag.org/pipeline/archives/2016/06/15/mor...
- pasbesoin 10y agoI'm not sure I understand the problem. From my perspective (maybe wrong), the OP tracked down the Nature blurb and posted it. Maybe for authority, maybe because HN focuses on English language discussion. Presumably, the OP first ran across the news in Le Monde. Well, ok; while I appreciate actually having a somewhat de facto lingua, um, franca for conversation on HN, I can cope with citations to content in other languages. Particularly when the OP is considerate enough to also provide an English language alternative. While I'm about out the door, in a hurry, it also appears at a glance that the article in Le Monde may have more general background on the topic and its history of concerns.
- DanBC 10y agoIgnore that troll account.
