I don't understand how HN ranks posts: this was at the very top with just 9 points, no comments, how does that work exactly ?
- weitzj 10y agoIf the post gets upvotes in a short amount of time it ranks higher
- overcast 10y agoscore = (votes - 1) / pow((item_hour_age+2), gravity) Which means, newer posts have a higher weight. As time goes by, the score lowers. The constant gravity can be adjusted to lower or raise how fast this occurs.
