It's no surprise that the countries which are happiest are either from Northern Europe or are former British colonies. They are all wealthy, developed, educated, have low instances of religion, and are left leaning with tax payer funded healthcare, education, etc. I wonder how many countries that Queen Elizabeth is monarch of don't have union jacks on their flags. I can think of Canada and Jamaica, but there's bound to be more in the Caribbean and Pacific.
