Definitely check out http://www.lazarus-ide.org/ http://www.lazarus-ide.org/ for a modern open-source Delphi reimplementation. It's great. I agree that Delphi is quite nice. I use both Delphi and (much more) C++Builder for work, but I wish more of it was Delphi.
