I live in an area that has 2 providers, Comcast and Consolidated. Neither are a good choice, both are pricey, and for some reason there is some law/policy in place preventing other companies( like AT&T or verizon )from competing in my location. It saddens me that the telcos seem to be impeding progress here and preventing us from getting any kind of reasonable bandwidth to our homes.

- jseliger 16y agoAgreed. I have a "choice" between Comcast and Qwest for Internet access, with the latter only offering 1.5mb/down, which is another way of saying that my "choice" is Comcast, which offers 7mb/down for $60/a month. The funny thing is that a market research firm called me to ask my impressions of Comcast. I went down the list: 1... 1.... 1.... A few days later, I saw that Comcast had won the "Golden Poo" award, which seems more richly desersved than ever: http://jseliger.com/2010/05/08/may-2010-links-soap-operas-kindles-systems-and-stories-and-more http://jseliger.com/2010/05/08/may-2010-links-soap-operas-ki... .
