Saw this on my Facebook feed recently with my friend's comment along the lines of: "This is pretty shit, but I'm getting sick of these hit pieces on Asian countries when a lot of Asian countries (China/Japan/Korea) score higher than America on most metrics of gender inequality: http://hdr.undp.org/en/indicators/68606 http://hdr.undp.org/en/indicators/68606 " I assume he was (at least) referencing the Vox (QZ?) video that came out slamming a Chinese dating show.

> "This is pretty shit, but I'm getting sick of these hit pieces on Asian countries when a lot of Asian countries (China/Japan/Korea) score higher than America on most metrics of gender inequality I talked to a woman that spent some time in China off the beaten path, and the general feel was that you really couldn't dress up in any amount of revealing clothing lest men just assume that wearing that clothing in and of itself was a proposition for sex. I haven't live everywhere in the "West," but I feel like that aspect has to be better over here. Especially since this woman was comparing that environment to living in Canada (and how she couldn't wear a lot of the things there that she could back home).
