The ACA (or repealing the ACA) are both "solutions" to the wrong problem. So much potential innovation in the health care space is illegal. If it wasn't illegal, someone might (gasp!) find a way to provide a valuable service for less money than in the current system. It will not, and cannot, be fixed by regulation, because of what you said - any regulation MUST be approved by the big companies. They'll never approve something that goes against their interests.
