A good recording made onto a good metal tape on a high-end deck from a good source, will sound nearly as good as a CD or clean vinyl on a good turntable. Commercial prerecorded tapes were shit, OTOH, becayse they were always on cheap tape stock, with at best Dolby noise reduction, to maximise sales.
