I work for a children's hospital gluing several systems together to automate the conversion, preprocessing, storage, and analysis of brain scans.
It's more tedious than challenging, I have to use Matlab which kind of sucks, I'm stuck in a windowless box, and I constantly deal with server problems. Not to mention less-than-stellar-pay.
What do I enjoy about it? The feeling that when I finish all this the doctors will spend a lot less time pushing the same buttons on their computers and hoping that the software doesn't crash, and more time actually doing research and treating sick kids.
