This looks fairly similar to the psychology course, "Everything is Fucked" [1]. EiF has a stellar syllabus, while this one seems a bit lighter (maybe it's for fewer credits). Seems like a pretty useful course, in any event. I'm definitely curious about Susan Fiske's article, about how social networks encourage unmoderated academic "trash talk" [2].
