The most upvoted questions seem exceptionally hostile.
- agd 10y agoThis is not that surprising given a) who his adversaries are and b) the fact that many young people will now blame Wikileaks for Trump winning the election.
- pvg 10y agoI doubt an elite unit of Swedish chefs has been plotting his downfall for months by orchestrating pointed questions on Reddit.
- agd 10y agoI'm not sure about Swedish chefs (?) but it's fairly clear that state-sponsored actors are actively involved in trying to manipulate online discourse.
- pvg 10y agoDo you believe state-sponsored actors have brigaded reddit to air their grievances against the mods of /r/wikileaks? That's the top question.
- crdoconnor 10y agoSeems that way: http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2014/07/eglin-air-force-base-busted-gaming-reddit.html http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2014/07/eglin-air-force-base-...
- pvg 10y agoSo Eglin AFB has a beef with /r/wikileaks mods? I'm not sure I follow.
- crdoconnor 10y agoIt would surprising if there weren't some hostility. He's a controversial figure. What's surprising is that the distribution of upvotes doesn't imply any kind of controversy - instead there's near-unanimous condemnation.
- rfrank 10y agoReddit at large is extremely hostile to Wikileaks post election. Another staffer did an AMA a couple months ago and the tone from people asking questions was the same.
- goalieca 10y agoThe USA intelligence report indicates that he was a tool of Russian intelligence. It's very possible that trump was elected because of this action. He has a lot of responsibility it is the duty of the public to put his actions and ethics under scrutiny.
- weaksauce 10y agoIt's one thing to release the documents in a fair, unbiased method. But the release of the documents was politically timed to be as impactful as possible with hyped and staggered releases. He and wikileaks took sides and that is not something I consider ok. He had/has a vendetta.
- EdHominem 10y ago> the release of the documents was politically timed to be as impactful as possible with hyped and staggered releases. Umm, yeah. Why bother leaking documents straight into the trash? > It's one thing to release the documents in a fair, unbiased method. Wikileaks can only leak whatever is given to them. Did you send them Trump email that they refused to leak? > He and wikileaks took sides and that is not something I consider ok. The point of a vote is literally for everyone to take sides. > He had/has a vendetta. I'd have a vendetta against a politician (in a position of military command) who asked if I could be killed extra-judicially. How can you fault someone for this?
- weaksauce 10y ago> Umm, yeah. Why bother leaking documents straight into the trash? They built a legitimacy and reputation for releasing documents in big dumps and this time was different. > Wikileaks can only leak whatever is given to them. Did you send them Trump email that they refused to leak? No I did not. The fair and unbiased method I was referencing is the way they had handled things in the past. > The point of a vote is literally for everyone to take sides. He's Swedish and leaking information gained from a politically adversarial country. Neither of which get a vote in our election. > I'd have a vendetta against a politician (in a position of military command) who asked if I could be killed extra-judicially. How can you fault someone for this? You think trump is going to be any different? I think both were awful candidates, personally.
