It sucks that the company probably has some decent IP that can change the world, but is (by my outside opinion) so top heavy business-wise that it'll just eventually end up locked away by competitors via some forced sale. If I had to pivot a miniature lab that fails because of small sample size; I'd think of just making it invivo.
