The median starting salary for CS majors at schools like Cornell and CMU is over $100,000. If you are good and target companies in certain areas it is not difficult to break $100,000 coming out school. Most coursework master's programs are cash cows at universities, outside of the top 30 or so the admission criteria is rather lax as well.
