Just curious, are there any real world examples where select is a bottleneck? I guess if I had a threaded web server or something but is there such a thing?
I've never particularly liked select but it has solved many, many problems in practice.
- exDM69 10y agoYes, it quickly becomes the bottleneck with a large number of sockets. Web servers like nginx use epoll/kqueue and other techniques described in the article.
