As it quite often happens it's better to read wikipedia article:

than to suffer through things like "substance found in pencils"
- po 16y agoI hate how science writers get to the part of the article where they have to write about why it is useful. They usually start dipping into their stock cliché material. This one is particularly bad. The whole last half of the article is junk.
